Mental Health matters
Mental health is a major and growing public health concern with 1 in 5 men and 1 in 3 women in the UK being diagnosed with a mental health problem at some point in their lives (Mental Health Foundation 2016). Mental health problems can lead to a range of personal, social, health and financial issues for individuals and their families. The estimated cost to our economy is currently £70 billion per year (OECD 2018) with mental ill health causing 91 million working days to be lost every year (MHFA England 2018).

With this in mind, MHFA England (2018) recommends that businesses manage wellbeing proactively and minimise the impact of mental ill health on work and life by providing training opportunities which enables people to spot the symptoms of mental health issues, offer initial help and guide a person towards support.
